As a Chicago maternity photographer, I recommend scheduling your session between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully round and you’re most comfortable.
To secure your spot, I recommend reaching out early in your second trimester. This gives us plenty of time to design a session tailored just for you.

From selecting pieces from the client closet to planning your custom set design, everything is tailored so you feel fully prepared and excited for your session!

The planning stage is where your vision truly comes to life. Together, we’ll talk through every detail-whether you’re dreaming of a glamorous editorial look, something timeless and simple, or a blend of both. We’ll also discuss who you’d like to include like your partner, children, or if you’d prefer the focus entirely on you.
From there, I’ll design a session that feels intentional and personal with styling, set design, and guidance woven seamlessly into the process. This step ensures that when the day of your session arrives, everything has been thoughtfully prepared so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience.
3. let's plan it
The day of your session is all about you. It’s your time to feel pampered and celebrated so treat yourself to hair, makeup, and a fresh manicure to highlight that beautiful pregnancy glow.

About two weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio for your personal viewing and ordering appointment. This is where the magic truly happens, you’ll see your portraits beautifully retouched, displayed on a large screen, and ready to select as wall art, albums, or collections designed to become part of your home.

I was lucky to find Carmen with ANE Photography on IG, and am so glad I did! Based out of the West Suburbs of Chicago, Carmen hosts a cozy home studio with plenty of options for both maternity and newborn photo sessions.
For the maternity shoot, she offered high-end dresses, silks, accessories, jewelry and props! I was equally impressed with the swaddles, baby clothes, accessories, and props for the newborn session. Perfect option when you don’t want to buy clothes for a photo shoot.
Each session was prepped to progress efficiently through the outfit and background changes. She was meticulous with posing, gentle and caring as she re-positioned my daughter, and provided direct instructions to me for posing.
Carmen followed up both photo shoots with reveal sessions to review the captured photos, in a very timely manner. All were stunning! Look forward to working with her again!

Q: How much is a Maternity session?
A: Digital packages start at $600. A $250 non-refundable retainer is due at the time of booking. The retainer goes towards your final digital and artwork purchase.

Q: HOW DO I FEEL CONFIDENT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA WHEN I DON'T FEEL LIKE MYSELF RIGHT NOW?
A: This is the most common thing I hear and I promise, you are not alone. I guide you through every pose, angle, and expression so you never have to figure it out yourself. Most moms leave saying it was far more fun and far less awkward than they expected.
Q: When should I schedule my maternity session?
A: 28–34 weeks pregnant is the sweet spot! Your bump is beautifully round, and you're still feeling like yourself. Don't wait too long; this stage goes faster than you think.
Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
A: At least 2 weeks before you're 28-34 weeks pregnant, but sooner is always better. My calendar fills fast, especially on weekends. Reach out and I'll check what's available for your due date window.
Q: WHAT IF I HAVE TWINS OR A HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY? DOES THE TIMELINE CHANGE?
A: Yes, and that's completely normal. If you're expecting multiples or have any pregnancy complications, I recommend scheduling a bit earlier, around 26–30 weeks. Just mention your situation when you reach out, and we'll plan the perfect timing together.
Q: HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?
A: Maternity sessions typically run about 1–1.5 hours, giving us plenty of time for outfit changes, posing, and breaks-no rushing.
Q: What should I wear?
A: I have a full client closet of gorgeous maternity gowns ready for you to just show up! Nude or white undergarments are a great base and highly recommended. Everything else is covered in your Maternity Experience Guide once you're booked.
Q: CAN MY PARTNER AND OTHER KIDS BE IN THE PHOTOS?
A: Absolutely! I encourage it. Family portraits are some of my favorite images to capture. Just let me know who's joining so I can plan the session accordingly.

A: My in-home studio is located in Lombard, a western suburb of Chicago, about 20 miles west of downtown.
