You’ve been dreaming of this moment and now that they’re finally here, it’s time to slow down and soak it all in. My newborn sessions in my Chicago studio are calm, cozy, and completely baby-led. That means we move at your little one’s pace, keeping things relaxed and natural every step of the way.
Everything you need is already here-props, wraps, outfits, headbands, and tiny hats. All you have to bring are the baby's essentials and yourselves. I’ve got the rest covered.
Whether we’re capturing those tiny fingers or the way they curl into your chest, every part of this session is about connection between you, your baby, and this brand new love you’re learning to hold. Parents and siblings are always welcome to be part of the story.

Tiny Details, Timeless Memories
The journey begins with a simple hello. Most families reach out during the second trimester to secure their spot on my calendar. Since newborn portraits are best captured when baby is between 7–14 days old, reserving early ensures we’ll have the perfect window to document those first sweet days.
Getting started with ANE Photography is simple: fill out the contact form below, and I’ll connect with you by email to share availability, walk you through investment options, answer any questions, and ensure I’m the right Chicago newborn photographer for your family.
1. Say Hello
Once you’ve viewed the investment guide and decided to proceed, the next step is to reserve your date with a retainer and signed contract. We’ll begin with a tentative booking around your due date, and once your baby arrives, you’ll notify me so we can schedule the actual session within the ideal 7–14 day window.
Newborn portraits are best in those first weeks, but older babies can still be photographed with adjusted posing and styling.
2. Schedule it
The planning stage is where we design a session that feels intentional and unique to your family. We’ll discuss color palettes, textures, and any themes you’d like to incorporate, as well as which family members you’d like included. Every detail from wraps and props to poses and styling is thoughtfully chosen to highlight your baby’s earliest days.
With years of expertise and training in newborn safety, you can feel confident knowing your little one will be cared for throughout the process.
3. Planning it
The day of your newborn session is finally here! It's a time to slow down and simply enjoy these first days with your baby. Sessions typically last about 2–3 hours and are completely baby-led. If your little one needs to feed, cuddle, or take a break, we’ll pause and follow their natural rhythm to ensure they are comfortable and content.
While I focus on capturing every tiny detail from sweet sleepy poses to family connections, you’ll be able to sit back, relax, and soak in the experience, knowing that everything is taken care of.
4. Your Session
Approximately two weeks later, you’ll return for your personal viewing and ordering appointment. This is the moment you’ll see your gallery of beautifully retouched portraits for the very first time. Together, we’ll select your favorites and transform them into heirloom artwork-albums, wall art, or fine prints that preserve your newborn’s earliest days with timeless elegance.
5. Your Photographs
I just want to say Carmen is super personable and very talented at her craft. You can tell that she is passionate about photography by how patient and attentive to detail she is. My newborn was very fussy during the photoshoot and Carmen was very understanding and even helped me soothe my newborn. There are not enough words to describe how amazing each and every photo that Carmen took is. She has a magical way of finding the perfect angle, lighting, and of course expressions. She had so many wonderful props and was able to do so much!! I 100% recommend her.
